Volbeat - gig review in Colorado

Volbeat in the house! Every time those Danish guys came to the Denver region I was either busy or already had other plans. So when they announced a tour stop in Colorado Springs, CO I made sure not to miss them this time around; well, me and about 500 other people that is.
Holy crap, The Black Sheep was packed to capacity and maybe even over.

Volbeat - Interview with Jon Larsen 8-31-11 by superskum

Volbeat
I had the pleasure of conducting an interview with Volbeat’s drummer Jon earlier in the day and you can listen to it above.

No video this time around since I was flying solo for the interview and Volbeat did not allow live footage recording of their gig.

If you ever have the chance of seeing them live, do it; the energy and just flat out rock ‘n roll atmosphere at their shows is immense.

Unfortunately Clutch, who supported them for the rest of the tour dates, was not part of the Colorado Springs gig but to be honest, most people came to see the mighty Volbeat anyway.

It was a bit difficult to get good pictures since there was no barricade and I am not one that will stand in front of the stage for hours waiting for the headliner to come on. I managed to sneak right up front for a while with the house security guy but the sheer amount of screaming, jumping, cell phone right in my view holding fans was a bit much.

But hey, they paid good money to see their heroes perform and entertain them and this is exactly what Volbeat did that night.
After a Motörhead intro the guys around front man, vocalist and guitarist Michael started the night with “The Human Instrument” from their 2007 album Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil.

According to some fans that also saw them play last time around, the band didn’t switch up their set list all that much. Out of the 18 or so songs they played, only 5 were from their newest album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven (11/2010). Of course one of the highlights that evening was their radio hit “Fallen” and also the Dusty Springfield cover “I only wanna be with you”.

Volbeat
All in all it was a great show and the band had a great time on stage playing to a packed house. During my interview, Jon told me that Volbeat has plans on returning to our shores one more time in support of their album.

Maybe I will be able to catch them live again since they really put on an awesome show and hopefully they will play in an A-market venue because they sure as hell rocked my socks off!
